Design Fabric’s ‘WIP Sessions’ is a monthly event, where Designers and Artists talk about their unfinished, latest and upcoming projects.
For the fifth edition of the WIP Sessions, we have invited Artist Shilo Shiv Sulemam, Rapper Sofia Ashraf, Architect Faizan Khatri and Motion Graphic Artists Wolves.
Faizan Khatri is an architect and educator. He is one of the three partners at studio eight twentythree, a collaborative design practice based in Mumbai. His work reflects his love for animals, design, teaching and space creation through critical questioning.
An advocate for animal welfare and rescue, he likes to construct an intriguing commentary on the world around him, seen through the eyes of the animals that co-exist within it. He has collaborated with various film directors as a concept story board artist for international and bollywood movies, and teamed up with NGOs to create wall art for orphanages and under privileged schools. He is going to talk to us about Dogmatic Pragmatism.
Shilo Shiv Suleman is a visual artist with a focus on the intersection of magical realism, art for social change and technology. She is the founder and director of ‘The Fearless Collective’ that engages with gender issues and art for social justice across the world. She will be presenting her talk titled ‘Waterworks’.
Wolves is a visual agency that works closely with artists, live events, media groups, brands, and entertainment companies around the world. It has forged an alliance with some of the world's most prolific music artists alongside major music festivals to deliver staggering live experiences.
Sofia Ashraf is a digital content creator by profession and a rapper by digression and a comic if you're drunk enough. Sofia Ashraf creates content on YouTube under the moniker "Sista from The South" on the badass feminist channel -Blush. Her videos address topics ranging from environmental issues, politics, patriarchal structures and moral policing. Her primary media of choice are music and comedy.
She is currently working on her first album. An autobiographical collection of songs that cover everything from her experiences of giving up religion to her soul-crushing stint of working a desk job. In her talk, she will deconstruct the lyrics of her songs and take you through the life-experiences that inspired the rhymes.
