Design Fabric’s ‘WIP Sessions’ is a monthly event, where Designers and Artists talk about their unfinished, latest and upcoming projects.
For the fourth edition of the WIP Sessions, we have invited Artist Priyesh Trivedi (Adarsh Balak), Musician Tejas Nair (Spryk), Border & Fall Founder Malika Verma Kashyap and Amitabh Kumar from Art in Transit.
Priyesh Trivedi is a self-taught multidisciplinary visual artist and design professional working with painting, video, installation and new media. His practice is informed by examination of popular culture, anthropology, linguistics and existential enquiries. He is most well-known for his 'आदर्श बालक' (Adarsh Balak) series which translates to 'ideal child'. He was also listed in 2017's Forbes India 30 under 30. He will speak to us about his ongoing project 'आदर्श बालक' (Adarsh Balak), and share some insight on his journey as a visual storyteller.
Spryk is the electronic music & art exploration of Mumbai based Tejas Nair who also runs a boutique sound lab called "Press Play Studio". A signature blend of genres in his live and DJ performances have brought him to play at some of the finest venues pushing Electronic Music across South Asia. Spryk is constantly working towards pushing boundaries of his craft. From designing the soundscape and contributing with musical score for India's first full length feature AAA Video Game title ‘Antariksha Sanchar’, to his most recent collaborative endeavour with Aniruddh Mehta (@thebigfatminimalist), ‘Strange Movements’, an all original cutting edge Audio Visual exploration. He is going to talk about his journey from being a classical percussionist to now designing modern music.
Amitabh Kumar is a visual artist based in Bangalore. He is a founding member of the Pao Collective, an Indian comics ensemble, and is currently occupied with creating ecosystems for emerging comic book artists in India. Since 2014 he has been Faculty at the Srishti Institute of Art, Design and Technology and has co-initiated the Art in Transit project with Arzu Mistry, which works extensively across public spaces in Bengaluru, focussing on the emerging Bengaluru Metro Rail Network. He will be tracing the evolution of Art in Transit in his talk.
Malika Verma Kashyap is the founder of ‘Border & Fall’, a digital publication and strategic agency. Their work acknowledges change makers of India's fashion and craft community and the multi-disciplinary agency specializes in business development across branding, digital, retail and creative direction. Border & Fall's work includes ongoing talks, residencies and The Sari Series - a cultural film documentation of India's regional sari drapes.
